Gillman Funeral Service has been serving generations of families since 1920. We have branches in Balham, Battersea, Carshalton, Mitcham, Norbury and Tooting.
We are proud to serve the people in those communities of many different cultures and faiths, as well as those with no religious beliefs.
We bring empathy and experience to support you in planning your loved one’s funeral and fulfilling your wishes to the best of our ability.
Our experienced and caring staff will advise and support you at every stage of the funeral planning process, with a wide range of funeral options and transparent pricing.
Here at Gillman Funeral Service we also offer a prepaid funeral plan, Choice, so that you can arrange and pay for a funeral in advance.
If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral, or our Choice plan, please come and see us in any of our funeral homes, or if you’d rather we can arrange a home visit. Brendan Meade
Senior Funeral Arranger
Brendan has been in the funeral industry for 42 years, having joined us 12 years ago. He most enjoys meeting the public, and helping guide them through a difficult time in their life along with assisting staff, especially new starters. He has a NAFD Diploma in Funeral Directing (DipFD). In Brendan’s spare time, he loves cooking, and recently joined a darts team. He is also a local Magistrate (Justice of The Peace), and sit in the criminal court at Wimbledon, and the traffic court in Lavender Hill SW11. Outside courts, he can sign or witness Affidavits, Certified True Copies, Statutory Declarations, and Judicial Warrants.
Stephanie Phillips
Funeral Arranger/Administrator
Stephanie has worked at Funeral Partners since 2018, she was raised in pubs as her mum and dad have always been managers of them and has also done care work. She enjoys working in the funeral industry, in particular, helping and supporting families through a difficult time.
Stephanie has also achieved a Level 3 Qualification in Management, Supervision and Leadership.
Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family.
Dani Darowska
Funeral Arranger - Balham branch
Dani joined in January 2026, having previously worked in recruitment for a direct sales company. Dani most enjoys the arranging and planning in her job, knowing that she’s making someone’s life easier at a difficult time. Dani was born in Poland speaks Polish, if you require a Polish speaking service please get in touch. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and going to concerts.
Beryl Roberts
Funeral Arranger
Beryl joined nine years ago, having previously worked in care, hospitality and church events. She loves her job and being able to offer up her skills in empathy, care, support, punctuality, communicating with families and listening and giving ideas how best to give a once in a lifetime cherished final send-off. Beryl is a grandma of 8 grandkids. In her spare time, she attends a Pentecostal Church and is very active in her church circle. She also loves watching old black and white films and listening to reggae and gospel music.
Bella Lelis
Funeral Arranger - Tooting branch
Bella joined in March 2026, having previously worked in sales and recruitment. Bella most enjoys helping families get through what could be the most difficult time of their lives and making it a little bit easier for them. Bella comes from a multicultural background, having lived in three different countries and speaks Portuguese, Italian and French. If you require a Portuguese, Italian or French speaking service, please get in touch. In her spare time, she loves going to the gym and spending time with family and friends. She also runs her own social media management and content creation company.
Jess Whitehead
Funeral Arranger
Jess joined in February 2026, having previously worked in hospitality, managing a pub and restaurant. She enjoys working as a Funeral Arranger because everyday is different. She likes meeting people and helping them through the arrangements, making sure everything runs smoothly. In her free time she enjoys reading, baking and spending time with her daughter.
